Why Your Hair Is Falling, and What Actually Stops It

Losing fifty to a hundred strands a day is normal. What matters is a widening parting, a thinner ponytail, and scalp showing where it did not before. Here is what causes it, what we can honestly fix, and what needs a doctor.

Almost everyone who sits in our chair and says "my hair is falling" is worried about the wrong number. Losing fifty to a hundred strands a day is normal. Hair grows, rests, sheds and grows again, and the shedding phase is supposed to happen. What is worth paying attention to is not the strands on your pillow, it is whether your parting is getting wider, whether your ponytail feels thinner in your hand than it did six months ago, and whether you are seeing scalp where you did not before.

We are a salon, not a clinic, so we will be straight with you about which of these we can help with and which we cannot.

Why hair falls, and what is actually behind it

Most hair fall we see in Dhaka comes down to a handful of causes, and they are not all the same problem.

  • Nutrition. Low iron, low protein and low vitamin D are the ones that show up most often, and they show up in hair months after the deficiency starts.
  • Hormones. Thyroid problems, PCOS and the months after childbirth all shed hair, and no treatment fixes that until the cause is treated.
  • Stress and illness. A fever, surgery, or a hard few months will push a lot of hair into the shedding phase at once. It usually recovers on its own.
  • Water and buildup. Hard water and heavy product buildup make hair brittle and make the scalp unhappy, which is not the same as losing hair from the root.
  • Tension and heat. Tight ponytails, tight braids, daily straightening and repeated chemical work break hair off along the shaft. This is the one people least expect and the one that is easiest to stop.
  • Genetics. Some hair loss is inherited, and it needs a doctor rather than a salon.

What a salon can honestly do

We can clean the scalp, take off buildup, calm irritation, strengthen the shaft so less of it snaps, and stop the damage that our own industry causes. A hair spa, an ozone or scalp treatment, a protein or bond repair treatment, all of these help hair that is breaking. Our anti hair fall treatment is priced by hair length like everything else and the number is written down before we start.

What we cannot do is grow hair back from a follicle that has stopped, correct a thyroid problem, or replace iron you are not eating. Anyone who promises you that is selling something.

What actually helps at home

  • Loosen it. If your hairstyle hurts, it is pulling hair out. That includes sleeping in a tight braid.
  • Wash more often, not less. An unwashed oily scalp does not grow more hair.
  • Oil the scalp before washing, not after. Leaving heavy oil on for days traps dust and makes it worse.
  • Give heat a rest. Straightening every day does more damage than one chemical treatment a year.
  • Comb wet hair with a wide tooth comb only, and start at the ends.
  • Eat protein at every meal and get your iron checked once.

When to see a doctor instead

Book a doctor, not a salon, if hair is coming out in round patches, if the scalp is painful, itchy or flaking heavily, if a lot of hair has fallen suddenly over a few weeks, or if the front hairline is moving back. Those need a diagnosis. We will tell you the same thing if you sit in our chair with them.

What we do at Noor

Come in and we will look at the scalp and the length before recommending anything, and tell you honestly whether a treatment will help or whether you are better off spending the money on a blood test. If a treatment does make sense, the hair treatment prices are published in full, and you hear the number for your hair length before anything starts.

What people ask us first.

How do I stop my hair from falling?
Loosen tight hairstyles and braids, and oil the scalp before washing rather than leaving it on for days. Avoid tight ponytails or sleeping in a tight braid if your scalp already feels sore, since that pulls hair out at the root. Come to Noor Beauty Salon and get the right advice for your hair from our team.
What is the best treatment for falling hair?
Our Anti Hair Fall Treatment, hair spa or scalp therapy help hair that is breaking from damage, priced by hair length. Avoid picking a treatment by name alone if the cause is hormonal, low iron, or genetic, since a salon treatment will not fix those on its own. Come to Noor Beauty Salon and get the right advice for your hair from our team.
Who should avoid keratin treatment?
If your hair is already very damaged, over-processed, or breaking a lot, it is worth strengthening it first rather than adding another chemical treatment. Avoid keratin if you are pregnant or have a known sensitivity to the formaldehyde-releasing formulas some keratin products use, ask us about it at booking. How do I get a real bridal glow in the weeks before my wedding?
This is more a skincare question than a makeup one, start facials and skin treatments six to eight weeks out, not the week before, so skin has time to actually improve. Avoid trying a new facial or treatment you have never had for the first time close to the wedding, skin needs time to settle, not experiment. Are acrylic nails safer than gel?
Neither is inherently unsafe when applied and removed properly by a professional. Avoid filing too aggressively or peeling extensions off at home instead of having them removed at the salon, that is where the real risk in both comes from. Which is better for the upper lip, threading or waxing?
Threading is usually gentler and more precise for the upper lip, which is why our Upper Lip Wax and Upper Lip with Chin options exist alongside threading for people who prefer wax instead. Avoid switching between the two every visit, sticking to one method tends to keep results more even over time. Come to Noor Beauty Salon and get the right advice for your skin from our team.
Which haircut fits a round face best?
A Face Framing Layer, Feather Cut, or a longer Bob Cut past the chin generally suits a round face by adding length and softening the cheeks. Avoid a short, rounded Bob Cut that sits right at the jaw, that shape tends to echo and emphasise a round face rather than balance it. What is the most flattering hair length overall for a round face?
A length that falls at or past the collarbone, with some face-framing layers, tends to be the most universally flattering for a round face. Avoid a length that stops right at the chin or jaw without layers, that is the placement most likely to widen rather than balance a round face. Which facial suits oily skin that gets shiny by afternoon?
A Clarify Ozone or Deep Purifying facial controls excess oil and keeps pores clearer for longer. Avoid heavy, cream-based facials like gold or diamond if your skin is genuinely oily, since they can leave it looking greasier by evening. Does a facial help with acne scars, or only with active breakouts?
A clove acne facial calms active breakouts, while textured scarring from old acne responds better to something like a deep purifying or gentle exfoliating facial over several sessions. Avoid expecting one facial to erase scarring completely, that takes consistent sessions and sometimes more than a facial can do.
